I was going to wait until I had good, professional photos of my Steven cosplay but LOL that will never happen. Here have a low res jpg from Facebook.
It's actually improved a lot since this picture, which is another reason I'm so hesitant to upload this. But like I said. Good pictures are impossible to have with this costume.
The coat, armbands, and his weirdass not-a-tie tie were made by me. The coat kinda looks like poop. There's so much fugly topstitching (topstitching is second only to raw edges on the inside on my list of "things that are unacceptable in my costumes") and I completely fucked up the slit on the back. It's all puckery and gross and shit. I also interfaced part of the collar but not the other part and it looks like yuck. D: I love the way the purple stripes came out though.
The armbands are paperclay over insulation foam. I'm not too proud of those, either. They're so uneven and not-round and not-smooth and ikgjkldfgjklfd. They looked way better after I painted a metal texture on them using drybrush techniques, but I still want to either get modeled ones or redo them.
The rings were modeled by
and printed by Shapeways. Two of them were too small and I had to sit with a Dremel for a couple hours and sand the insides down looool. I painted them to look metal using the same techniques as on the armbands. You know. The techniques you can't see in this picture. :U They're convincing, but the paint rubs off because rings are like that and the rings also rub the skin off my fingers.
My wig is a recycled one from
. I need to get a better one because unfortunately it really doesn't work like I thought it would. :C
I love how I don't even need contacts though. Steven and I both have gray eyes. It's awesome.
I also like to wear silver studs in my ears with this costume because I love the fanon "Steven's ears are pierced" thing. It doesn't make me look gay at all*. Just FABULOUS! *wrist flip*
*It totally makes me look gay. I have no problem with this :U
